Descripción del proyecto:
This is a 12 month EVS placement for two volunteers, starting 21 May 2018.
We are looking for volunteers to support residents on a one-to-one basis and get actively involved in planning and delivering an activities programme, ensuring it’s diverse, stimulating and in line with our organisational goal of providing people with disability the opportunity to live their lives the way they choose – with the support to live independently. In order to achieve the overall aim, the following tasks will be at the core of the project: • To introduce new activities to the activities programme (with some limitations according to health and safety regulations) • To support residents with the activities they wish to do inside and outside the care home • To support residents in fulfilling personal long-term goals • To support fundraising efforts to raise funds that will support the above mentioned aim • To raise disability awareness for the participants and in the local community.
Alojamiento, manutención, transporte etc.:
Accommodation: participants to the project would have their own room within Bradbury House, which includes bed/sofa, wardrobe, drawers and a sink. Kettle and tea and coffee facilities are also available within the rooms. There is a shared bathroom with bath and shower and separate toilets all are allocated near bedrooms on the seconded floor. Bradbury House have good transport links and is within walking distance of all local amenities such as banks, post office, shops and a weekly market. Durham is a stunning county with a lot of historical places to visit and beautiful landscapes.
Formación durante el proyecto:
Thorough training on working with vulnerable adults is provided to all our volunteers, and Leonard Cheshire Disability staff helps volunteers during the induction process to understand the needs of each individual. Risk assessments ensure that volunteers are not asked to contribute outside of their capability or boundaries. Volunteers acquire a range of knowledge, skills and experience including a greater understanding of the issues affecting disabled people.
Perfil del voluntario:
We are looking for enthusiastic people aged 18-30 years, with a good sense of humour, who enjoy working with people and working as part of a team. Volunteers should have a genuine interest in working with disabled people. Volunteers must be from EVS partner countries.
As a disability charity, we support applications from all members of society.
Please only apply if you are available from 21 May 2018 for 12 months, and from an EVS partner country.
