Association Šviesos dirbtuvėlės (en. Light workshop) is a community which mission is to reveal the gifts of people with or without disabilities through close and communal relationships.
Tasks for the volunteer:
Most of persons with disability are able to take care of themselves and do simple tasks, but still often they need to be attended, motivated, encouraged or guided. Our experience show that a friendship with a volunteer motivates to learn new things, encourages them to become more socially active. A volunteer would be asked to assist a person with disability in his/her activities.

 Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
  1. Volunteering 30-35 h/week at your receiving organization. There will be one person responsible for planning the schedule with you, advising on everyday tasks.
  2. We provide local transport tickets for public transport in Kaunas.
  3. You will be part of the group of volunteers at coordinating organization A.C.Patria.
  4. Volunteers pay their phone and internet connection fee which may reach ~6 EUR/month.
    5.One volunteer gets private room in shared apartment (3-5 people)
  5. Language courses at least 50 academic hours in a group of volunteers.

Training during the project

  1. On arrival training;
  2. Midterm training;
  3. Monthly meetings with all EVS volunteers in Kaunas;
  4. Regular meetings with your mentor;

Volunteer profile

Šviesos Dirbtuvėlės will welcome motivated volunteers who would be willing to understand the communal principles of the organization. A volunteer is desired to be positive and open-minded, flexible, active and helpful. Some initiatives from volunteers side, discussed with the team, are very welcome. He/she should be open and active in creating relationships with community members. It would be an advantage if a person would have at least some experience with people with mental disability.
We would accept persons over 18 years old.

Additional information

The typical day and tasks for a volunteer would look like follows: Gathering (a volunteer can be asked to accompany persons while they are gathering, occupy them, Community prayer ( Depending on volunteer’s wish he/she can be involved in organizing or leading a prayer. Note: our community has Christian roots, but it welcomes and respects the beliefs and traditions of coming people and encourages them to deepen their spiritual life, whether or not rooted in a traditional religious affiliation); Work in groups. Depending on work group, a volunteer might be asked to help in preparing lunch, etc.

Tasks:
* The communication with children based on working together;
* Help on outdoor events;
* Help in daily basic routine (f.e. take care of children who has disability of move , help to get ready for going outside and ect.);
* To bring a new idea and implement in the center;
Our organization is good field to learn how to communicate with children who have disability. They will teach you to be more patience and empathy. Also its perfect opportunities to learn about disabilities, and see what kind of different they are. Volunteering here will teach you collaboration, because it’s a main principle how we working in this center. Also are Opportunity to learn a Lithuanian language, Because children does not speak in another language.

Volunteer profile

We will host any kind of volunteer, but it is very important that the person would be empathetic and tolerant for people with disabilities, also would have motivation to volunteer. Nonetheless it is necessary that the volunteer is sociable, friendly personality, but would be responsible. Creativity and personal hobbies (photography, playing instruments, painting and so on) would be priority but not the main recruitment criterion.

Additional information

• Will be empathetic for people with disabilities; Will be creative and well organised in making activities for children with disability; Understand whatever activity is being done, the most important thing is to do it with (not instead of!) a disabled person and to be open to create a personal bonds and friendship with him/her; Will be flexible in communicating with all centre community , and flexible for dealing daily situation. The expertise in volunteering field is not necessary, the most important thing for use is that future volunteer will be a open minded to make a new things in life.

Tasks for volunteer:
Volunteer will be expected to assist in all activities of library: Develop your country showcase events; The development of educational activities; Submit events at its discretion; Organization of exhibitions; Meeting with writers; Presentations of books; Cultural events; Public city events; Social networking.So, we have work plans, which we will to add to the volunteer activities.
Volunteer will improve ability to look at thing creatively – by organizing various events, in the same space, volunteer will learn to see different ways to make it attractive to people.
Volunteer will learn how does cultural institution work which belongs to municipality.
Volunteer will increase social skills – we welcome many children, senior, to whom volunteer will assist she/he will improve communicational skills with people of different backgrounds.

Volunteer should have a value of reading and learning. In additional volunteer should be flexible, advanced social skills are not necessary. Volunteer should be tolerant to variety of people, because our visitors are all kinds of people. Volunteer would have a wish to improve, to learn, to get to know new things.

Tasks, role of volunteer:
He could gain experience working in gymnasium’s library and helping our social worker in her daily routine jobs. Communicating with students in in a non formal environment would be a great advantage developing our students’ spoken English. We would like to give a chance for the volunteer some time in the lessons to speak on various topics. He will also be given a classroom in which he will be able to prepare for foreseen activities in lessons and after them, personal initiatives, meet with students, etc. One hour after lessons he would help students to do their homework and present one’s own country, travel experiences as well as organized discussions on various topics.Apart from this, he could set up an extra-curricular activity in which he would be able to express himself and share volunteering experience with others. People responsible for this project, would make an opportunity for a volunteer to organize meetings with other schools or organizations

An English speaking volunteer is supposed to be sociable, communicative and be interested in participating in youth activities. An advantage would be a hobby like doing sports, playing a musical instrument/singing, reading books and etc – this could lead to creating a specific hobby club and would build a strong community between students or even town’s people.

More about tasks:
. According agreement volunteer will be given time to learn Lithuanian. During his/her volunteering time, one would be able to gain working in a team, collaboration, leadership, problem solving, planning, communicative and cognitive skills. Also, he/she will familiarize with the specifics of pedagogical work and some aspects of psychology while working with students of different ages. He/she will improve personal qualities, such as responsibility, creativity, patience and etc. Besides, we can offer him/her to attend pottery, cooking, carpentry, sports, guitar classes.

This project will be hold in Skuodas, Lithuania in Skuodo Pranciškaus Žadeikio gimnasyum.
Activities for volunteers:
The volunteer will help the Student Council to organize various events, campaigns and provide ideas for new projects. By implementing these ideas, he will have to cooperate with the deputy who is responsible for informal education at school. The volunteer will also cooperate with social pedagogue and will take part in socialization, prevention, mentoring activities with pupils who have social needs. He or she will collaborate with class tutors, non – formal education teachers by organizing traditional school events. The volunteer will be able to form a student’s club where one will be able to teach his native language, introduce his country’s traditions, culture and education system.

Volunteer profile

We need a volunteer with an active life position. The volunteer should be open – minded and interested in the life environment of young people. The volunteer should be able to motivate young people, to organize volunteering projects. The volunteer should be eager to bring his/her own ideas and abilities and to learn new abilities. The volunteer will be included into the hosting organization. We expect a volunteer over 25 years old because it might be difficult to work with the students of the same age.

Tasks for volunteer:
The volunteers will take part in various activities referred to the youth center together with the person responsible for them :
Volunteers will be working together with the local youth to support them in the planning and organizing youth events;
Volunteers will be in charge of creating educational activities on transversal skills both for children and for youth, in order to prepare them for Erasmus plus programme, as well as supporting them in their social empowerment referred to employability and entrepreneurship;
Volunteers will have to take part in activities and workshops in schools and youth centre to promote youth mobility; Volunteers will have to steer educational activities together with local youth workers such as workshops, info days, staff meetings, theatre activities etc. A lot of events will take place during the project; Volunteers will organise linguistic activities through language cafes in order to support local youth language skills.
